- Plan one quiet arrival—not a welcome party.
THE HAUS GUIDE · ARRIVAL
The first
72 hours.
Your puppy does not need a perfect first weekend. They need a quiet rhythm, clear expectations, generous rest, and the reassurance that their new people are safe.
The first evening
- Offer a potty opportunity before entering the home, then introduce one small area at a time.
- Feed the familiar food and keep fresh water available.
- Expect exploration, hesitation, bursts of play, and a great deal of sleep.
The first night
- Place the crate close enough that your puppy can hear and smell you.
- Take nighttime potty trips quietly and return directly to the crate.
- Some whining is expected; first check whether your puppy needs to eliminate or is genuinely distressed.
Within 72 hours
- Complete the veterinary examination required by your Haus of Hound agreement.
- Ask the clinic to scan and verify the microchip.
- Bring the go-home records and discuss vaccines, parasite prevention, nutrition, and any immediate concerns.
