A beautiful result begins with healthy edges and patient aftercare. Your cropping veterinarian’s instructions always take priority because technique, medication, and healing can vary by puppy.
Monitor every day
Look for increasing redness, warmth, swelling, separation, foul odor, unusual discharge, bleeding, or worsening pain. Contact the veterinary team promptly with concerns.
Remove sutures on schedule
Suture timing is determined by the surgeon and healing progress. Do not remove sutures or begin posting early without instruction.
Begin posting only when cleared
The edges should be appropriately healed before posting. Continue the veterinarian- or breeder-approved method consistently while giving skin appropriate checks and care.
Call the veterinarian
- Persistent bleeding or wound separation
- Marked swelling, heat, odor, or discharge
- Severe pain, lethargy, or appetite loss
- Repeated scratching that cannot be safely controlled
Ask before changing
- Cleaning products or ointments
- Medication or pain control

- Suture-removal or posting timeline
